We created an oil field theft Prevention Unit at the Texas Department of Public Safety. We authorized local law enforcement to confiscate stolen petroleum products. We created a program to inspect oil and gas tankers for possible theft. and we increase criminal penalties for oil field theft. Bottom line is now that we've deployed these four strategies, it should yield a lot of positive results to help crack down on the plague of theft in the oil field. (19:14–19:20)
