Governor Greg Abbott's Address on Border Security and Bail Reform at Texas Southwest Border Sheriff's Coalition

Published | Video Starts at 13:24

To be clear, this is not a right or left issue. This is a common sense public safety issue. Fixing broken bail requires these three things. One, Judges must automatically deny bail for violent crimes like murder, rape, and human trafficking unless there is clear and convincing evidence that the defendant will appear in court and not endanger the community. Where this does, from a lawyer standpoint, it shifts the default position from one of granting bail to one of denying bail unless that legal standard is met. (13:24–13:39)

CLAIM
