You see, Juneteenth was only the first barrier after 246 years of slavery in America and 89 years after the founding of our democracy. Not long after [Juneteenth] was the retaliation from Reconstruction by the institution of Jim Crow, followed by mass incarceration and institutions meant to prohibit the advancement of African Americans.
