After thinking about it with my family, I decided to run for the seat. At the time, this was a 5050 seat. I won with 54% of the vote and went to Madison to focus on smaller, smarter government. After my first session, I was elected the Senate Assistant Majority Leader by my colleagues and have been elected to that position for the last three sessions. (03:30–03:37)
