Ever since they took power after the 2010 shellacking, they imposed some of the most gerrymandered maps in the entire country on the legislature. They doubled down on that just last year with the new maps. They've tried to be able to cut off early voting, repeatedly being pushed back by federal courts. So they usually go for it.
