So simply because he had already retired. To me, that is unacceptable. And I know my colleagues on both sides of the aisle agree. That's why Senator McConnell and I work together to write the Chief Urban D Profit act to ensure that families of retired law enforcement officers who were killed as a result of their service are not denied benefits. So no more families have to go through what Chief Profit's family has gone through. This is just common sense bipartisan legislation that passed unanimously out of the Judiciary Committee.
