You know, here we've got this area that 150 years of industrial pollution polluting the canal, the mud at the bottom, the water, the land around it. Then we see in Hurricane Sandy just how vulnerable that whole area is to flooding. And It doesn't just flood when the hurricanes come, it floods now when it rains as well [in the Gowanus Canal area].
