They're able to, you know, they're being deterred from crime because a lot of times these crimes are made out of necessity. We've seen folks, and the racial and sentencing disparities as well between, you know, a, a white man, middle aged white man on his fourth DUI in the sentencing of that case versus a young black man, a teenage boy who stole pizza because he, he was hungry. And you know, we see this disparity in all of that as well too. So I, I think again, there needs to be an evolution in how we talk about crime and reframe it into community safety. (08:08–08:27)
