For far too long, students interested in state government internships have had to navigate a decentralized, hard to find system, agency by agency, with no central resource, no unified promotion, no coordinated support even for supervisors who are trying to make these programs successful. And that's why today is so important, because we are signing bills that establish a state government Internship Coordinator, a dedicated position within the Department of Human Resource Management, to centralize, strengthen and grow internship opportunities across Virginia's state agencies.
