And that is why I am grateful for the opportunity to offer Amendment 818 to hopefully be included in the NDAA. Amendment 818 would strengthen and secure the domestic energy supply chain that supports defense installations across the country. Today, California imports nearly 70% of all of its oil from foreign countries, and 30% of that oil comes from the Middle East.
