I think the CHIPS act was a mistake. It was based on this false premise that we're trying to imitate China, where China showered a bunch of semiconductor companies with money. Didn't go very well. They're being investigated for corruption. which is the sign that it failed in the US we shouldn't copy that method by have having showered them as we did under the Biden administration.
