Angelina was a culinary specialist whose life and service to our country was cut short despite many warnings from her friends and family. Her disappearance the US Navy mislabeled her as an unauthorized absence instead of the duty status whereabouts unknown. This was tragic. I was proud to honor Seaman Resendes by securing language in this year's NDAA to conduct oversight of the Department's application of designation in cases involving missing service members who are later found deceased.
