Roads in general were left behind in previous administrations, but they were really left behind. And so we're catching up and the Legislature understands that. So they've been helping out too. But It's going to take a while because nothing was happening. Alaska Public Works Director Jared Holter says keeping up with the city's more than 100 miles of streets is never ending process, especially as inflationary pressures continue to widen the gap in funding to keep up with the road system.
