Specifically, I want to recognize two of those advocates, Representative Sheila Stubbs and Annie Weatherby Flowers, whose advocacy has propelled us to this moment. Today, thanks to this commitment, In 2020, I was jazzed to finally make raising of Juneteenth flag over our State Capitol a reality for the first time in state's history. And these efforts follow those many trailblazers before them, including State Senator Spencer Cogs and Representative Marsha Coggs, who in 1987 proposed the first legislation to recognize Juneteenth here in Wisconsin.
