And I will admit that, Secretary Schwab, in 2011, when you were in Kansas state legislature, you supported a bill that required documentary proof of citizenship to vote. That law blocked the registration of more than 31,000 US citizens who were eligible to vote. And the law was eventually blocked in the court. When asked by the Associated Press in 2024 about a similar provision contained in the SAVE act, you said, quote, Kansas did that 10 years ago and it didn't work out so well, end quote. (41:00–41:07)
