My mother struggled with addiction to prescription pain kills pills. When I first came to the Senate, the crisis, the opioid crisis, was the overprescribing of things like oxycontin and oxycodone. And We have passed many sweeping reforms, particularly in the VA, that has reduced the number of these pills that are prescribed. Heroin came next, and then fentanyl.
