For most, it gives our seniors a bare bone economic existence, but it's vital to them. That's why I have made it my mission to protect and strengthen this critical program. Protecting and strengthening Social Security means standing up to extremist proposals from the GOP, ones that have laid out cuts or privatization, proposals that called for sunsetting the programs every five years, and statements that suggest that we pull Social Security up by the roots and get rid of it.
