That's a problem because the Voting Rights act is what worked to make democracy possible for millions of Americans. And so now I want to answer some questions from you about what happened and what it means. The way we got the Voting Rights Act was that people kept voting for people who actually believe that black and brown folks should get to participate in our democracy. And so we've got to localize that and remind ourselves that redistricting is designed for the politicians, but the politicians work for the people. (04:44–04:53)
