Shamefully, The DHS spokesperson justified the changes by saying that watchdog offices like the Office of Immigration Detention Ombudsman and the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties obstruct immigration enforcement at the department. But in many cases, the Department has wrongfully weaponized immigration enforcement resources against lawful residents and even United States citizens, sometimes detaining people based solely on their race, ethnicity or dialect.
