And it's important to recognize the role, but particularly those who give what Abraham Lincoln called the last full measure of devotion. It is inextricably linked to the vitality of a Republican form of government. We would not be celebrating 250 years as a country if it weren't for people who've been willing and indeed did lay down their lives in service to this country. So what you're doing here is recognizing that ultimate sacrifice in a very profound way.
