And he said basically what the Constitution did was put in a process that would lead to slavery's elimination. And he really believed that most of the founding fathers wanted to see that. And so he highlighted Frederick Douglass...highlighted the portions of the Constitution that were protecting liberty, that were restraining government. And he became a very strong spokesperson for all of those different things. And so he gave a famous speech where he started articulating all these things. (02:55–05:36)
