Through the appointment process set out by the West Virginia State Code, the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission received applications from 12 people, a lot of terrific candidates across the state. And then from that 12, A list of four [candidates] was forwarded to me [for the Supreme Court position]. The commission interviewed the applicants and they went and did their vetting.
