The city has opened the doors and rolled out the red carpet for the Republicans and has left their residents completely in the dark. There is no legitimate reason to criminalize our protest on a route we have marched before without incident. While the city says they cannot grant us our route due to supposed safety concerns, they're actually increasing the likelihood of police coming into contact with protest by not granting us our permit for our route. Historically, police intervention has always been the start of a protest going south. It's important to be clear that as organizers, we were never going to let this decision decide if we are going to march or not. (01:24–01:37)
