The US Government is actually very different. We spread out all of our tech and science work across all of our agencies. So the National Science foundation invests in basic research. The Commerce Department has an agency called NIST which does standards. You have the Department of Energy, which runs all of our national labs, things like Los Alamos, where nuclear weapons are designed and created. (04:59–05:04)
