The Klan carried out its violent attack because The SPLC had stood up against [the KKK] and has continued to stand up against hate in the following decades. whether it's racial and religious hate, hatred of immigrants, or the LGBTQ community. This melted clock, which was frozen in time by the KKK firebombing, still hangs in SPLC's headquarters as a reminder of the very real dangers of defending American civil liberties from hate.
