It's unfortunate that it often takes some kind of national event with a lot of attention to be able to then take a step in the right direction federally. Giffords has helped pass 700 pieces of legislation in state legislatures. A lot of success there. We need to do more at the federal level. Gun laws, they do matter. We've got some of the weakest.
