In Sydney, Australia, I'm reminded constantly of how essential it is to seek out the light and to lift up the stories of Holocaust survivors who came to our shores in search of a better life. Establishing the Fort Ontario Holocaust Refugee Shelter National Historic park would give this site permanent protection. and make sure it is preserved for future generations so they can learn about its history of hope, compassion and resilience.
