In Depth: U.S. Representative Kevin Hern discusses government shutdown

Published | Video Starts at 00:48

Well, I think it's important to understand how we got here. Speaker Johnson knew it was important for us to get appropriations to keep the government open. So back On September 19, the House passed a clean CR, which means we passed the Joe Biden funded government appropriations as a CR to November 21, and we sent it to the Senate. It's important to note that every single Democrat with the exception of one in the House of Representatives, voted against it. So they voted to shut down the government. (00:48–01:04)
