Eugene Debs was a candidate for president. These were Socialists, they were people that, they felt like it was the Gilded Age inequality, it wasn't working for people. The Depression hit, The New Deal basically incorporated a lot of those socialist ideas for a social safety net, for better laws, for labor unions benefited greatly from that. Those reforms. And a lot of that energy came from what you would call the dirtbag left at that time. I would say saved capitalism and saved America from having more of a more socialist or communist type revolution.
