And that is the direction we are going in. It takes a long time to turn that big old machine and that's what we are doing in education. We raised teacher pay, secured equal pay for charter school teachers, restored early literacy programs and reinstituted read by grade three. We passed an education bill that creates serious accountability measures in our schools, provides additional support for teachers and makes sure schools that fail our kids must answer for it.
