Jim Walden Discusses Police Accountability and Deferred Prosecution Agreements

Published | Video Starts at 00:41

So there are times when even the best of us, and myself included, have moments where we're not our best selves. Police should be able to grow out of those situations. And so Part of what I want the CDPI to do is to be able to work with cops to say, okay, we're going to bring charges against you, but if you agree to the following steps and the following remediation and the following re education, et cetera, et cetera, and you prove that you can get past this, then we won't bring a case against you. And those kinds of deferred prosecution agreements or non prosecution agreements are a regular feature of what we have in our tool chest for anyone that is accused of wrongdoing, misconduct or breaking the law. (00:41–01:00)
