July, August, September, October and November have been the safest in recorded history on the subways, excluding the pandemic years when many fewer people were taking the trains and transferries are at their lowest levels ever. Even when you include the pandemic years, New York are safer on our subways now than they have been in years. And they are feeling safer too. A recent poll conducted by the MTA showed that nearly 7 out of 10 New York City subway riders felt safe using the system. (10:44–10:52)
