I taught on the west side of San Antonio, and so I taught a lot of black and brown students. And I just saw how this system of public education really underserves them. It's the fight that I've been leading at the state legislature. I've also done a lot of work on prescription drugs. I'm a type 1 diabetic, and so I I use insulin every day.
