They're enshrined in our Texas Constitution as being essential to our liberties. And over I have worked very closely with even Republicans. Rural Republicans are some of my best allies to defend our public schools. And Greg Abbott has done more damage than anyone [to Texas public schools]. And so I knew there was a lot of anger.
