Now, it's been far too long since Congress has been actually able to work on legislation that will meaningfully reform a system that hasn't worked for anybody in New Mexico. Immigration is part of who we are. It's the fabric of who we are, not just as a state, but as a country. Now, we see that with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. We see that with the Gadsden Purchase, and we see that in our agricultural economy, in our restaurant economy, our hospitality economy. (05:28–05:35)
