So without airport service workers, our aviation system would be grounded. And yet, for too long, airport service workers have been overworked, underpaid, unprofessional. In fact, A recent Government Accountability Office study, study that I thought to have commissioned, found that airport service workers make significantly less than other workers in the aviation industry and are less likely to have employer sponsored health care for their families. Those workers served through extreme temperatures, holiday travel surges, and even pandemics. When the airlines were working during COVID it was the essential workers who have to show up to make sure that those airlines would in fact be able to operate. (01:19–01:42)
