Now research tells us that 70% of American adults have experienced at least one traumatic event in their life and that 2/3 of children experienced trauma before the age of 16. Of the 6 million veterans served by the Department of Veterans Affairs in fiscal year 2021, about 10 out of every 100 men and 19 out of every 100 women were diagnosed with post-traumatic stress. Many battle their demons alone, especially veterans focused almost exclusively on negative impacts of trauma and struggle, trying to protect loved ones from their suffering. (00:55–01:09)
