Mr. President, Friday marks the deadline to fund the Department of Homeland Security. Last week, Congress, House and Senate passed the five outstanding bipartisan government appropriation bills that funded 96% of the federal government. Senate Democrats drew the line when it came to funding this department, the Department of Homeland Security. After what we had seen in, in Minneapolis, in Chicago, and so many other places, we successfully removed that bill from government funding package to allow for negotiations with respect to federal immigration enforcement agents and their operations.
