Consider this. Between 2010 and 2016, the FDA approved more than 200 new drugs and treatments. Every single one of them benefited from NIH research funding. Money well spent. Congress has long recognized the importance of NIH, which is why we, on a bipartisan basis, provided NIH with $19 billion in additional funding over the past decade. A 60% increase. Mr. President, I was part of that effort and I'm proud to announce that it was bipartisan from the start. (02:14–02:26)
