When I ran for this office in 2018, I promised I would never stop working to fight for an independent non partisan redistricting process to secure fair maps for Wisconsin. For years, Republicans had gerrymandered districts to remain in power. Thirteen years of perseverance by Wisconsin Democrats. But those old, unbelievably outrageous Republican maps are finally gone. Thanks to new, more competitive maps signed into law earlier this year. Democrats picked up seats in both houses. In the assembly, where all 99 seats were up for reelection. (24:05–24:16)
