“One of the major challenges that we have, very simply, is there is not enough space available for individuals that need intensive inpatient mental health treatment that are currently in the criminal justice system. And so when we have, for example, We have people in the York county prison that have been there for years waiting a bed to be available so they can go take advantage of competency restoration. so they ultimately can stand trial for their case. As a result of that, with obviously with counties being the sort of the petri dish for innovation, we've decided to try to convert part of our prison into a competency restoration and mental health facility.” (01:24–01:35)
