Well, it's most assuredly not meant to suppress the vote. The idea is to make sure that people who are voting, are citizens and have the right to vote. It's supported by 80 to 85% of Americans that want to be sure that those who are voting have the right to vote. that they're citizens, that they're appropriately registered.
