Gun violence has touched our family as victims. I know what it's like to be hungry and what it's like to move around more times than one can count. Coming from difficult neighborhoods where half of black men spend time incarcerated, by the time that they reach my age of 35 years old. I know what it's like to escape those sort of statistics. But I also know what it's like to see friends and family members who succumb to those challenges and ultimately end up choosing the wrong path in life. (10:30–10:39)
