All those Democratic senators that filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights act, they remained Democrat senators. They didn't switch to become Republican senators. Robert Byrd was a lawyer for the Klan. He was a Democrat senator. He was the dean of the Democratic Senate until the day he died. He didn't change parties. (35:56–36:04)
