Aukus should be seen for what it is, a case study on how to enhance defense cooperation and it can be a vital tool in the foreign policy arsenal. Since day one, I've been a strong advocate for the Aukus Partnership, including by shepherding in Congress passing my bipartisan bill, the Aukus Submarine Transfer Authorization act. which laid the groundwork for implementing pillar one of the Aukus Agreement. This measure took the entire idea of the Aukus Partnership, passed just press release and photo ops and actually put some physical enhancements to it here with the submarines. (00:46–00:56)
