And there was this existential question of whether they had fully thrown the state off the cliff, whether it was no longer going to be a place where the people could have a government that was by, of and for them. And The only way that that changed, as we learned, was it was not through one heroic candidate. It was not through one watershed election that changed everything. It was through a movement of thousands and then more than a million people. People rolling up their sleeves, building a permanent campaign to fight for every level of power in the government so that we could rewrite the rules to put the people in charge instead of far right billionaires who are trying to rip the state apart.
